Bio

Picture
Theatre has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. I took after school acting classes in elementary school, and acted all through high school. At McGill University I studied English Drama, taking the few directing and stage management courses offered. When I graduated in 2005 I moved to London, UK and worked in the front of house first ushering and then supervising in a West End theatre. There I met a group of talented young actors and we worked together to create a Showcase of their work for agents at the Fortune  Theatre in the West End.

Then in 2006 I moved to Arusha, Tanzania, where I created a program to teach drama at a local impoverished high school. This was an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience, since there was not any form of arts education available, and the students were not used to any sort of creative expression, they found it hard to accept that every question does not have a right and wrong answer. At the same time I also directed Night School with the lawyers of the UN ICTR and they performed it at a local night club.

In 2007 I moved to Canberra, Australia, where I assistant directed and assistant produced 1 in a 100 a new play about schizophrenia. After that I moved to Paris to study with Philippe Gaulier. I spent 6 months there studying Le Jeu, Neutral Mask, Greek Tragedy, Buffon, Melodrama and Characters. This introduction to physical theatre made a big impression on my work and has complemented the theory that I learned at McGill.

In 2008, I moved to Holland where I worked with Stitching The English Theatre where I started out doing educational outreach and assisting the producer and I moved on to directing Petya’s Story I did the casting for the production in London, and we did half the rehearsals in London and half the rehearsals in Holland. This made it much easier when 6 months later we restaged the play in London. The second staging I produced with the writer.

In 2009, I worked in Cambridge, UK, producing a short film, After Dessert for Nights in a Row Productions. While there I also assistant taught theatre courses for youth with Classworks Theatre Company.

This last year I have been working for Odyssey Theatre in Ottawa, as an administrative intern, administrative assistant and front of house manager.
